Floods and other natural disasters in Burkina Faso have claimed no fewer than nine lives and injured 87 people since August, authorities disclosed Thursday.

More than 20,000 people have been affected and ‘major damage has been seen, notably with homes destroyed and public infrastructure damaged,’ according to minutes of a cabinet meeting which was sighted by Africa Daily News, New York.

The Nigerian Naira sank to its lowest level in history at the parallel market on Thursday, exchanging at ₦540 per U.S. dollar.

According to rates published by ngnrates.com which was obtained by Africa Daily News, New York, the British pound exchanged for ₦740 and the Euro at ₦630.
