Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has told members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), not to assume that the bulk votes the party had in 2015 and 2019 would remain intact in 2023 as President Muhammadu Buhari whose personality attracted the votes will not be on the ballot.

Cholera: Nigeria Records 37,819 Cases; 1,178 Deaths

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) has disclosed that the country has recorded 37,819 suspected cases of cholera, 1,178 deaths in 23 states, and the FCT.

According to the agency, the figures were the position as at Aug. 14.

The NCDC Director-General, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) monitored by Africa Daily News, New York on Monday, in Abuja.

Ihekweazu listed the states to include Benue, Delta, Zamfara, Gombe, Bayelsa, Kogi and Sokoto.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has urged the Taliban and all other parties to exercise utmost restraint in order to protect lives and ensure that humanitarian needs were addressed in Afghanistan.

Guterres made the call through a note from his Spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, on Sunday in New York, following the development in the country.
