A top Boko Haram insurgent, (Amir)  Senior Commander and his family have surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that Amir Adamu Rugu Rugu was known for deadly activities against troops and commuters around Mandara hill and Sambisa forest in Gwoza area.

A top security source confirmed that Amir Adamu surrendered alongside three wives and children in Gwoza town.

The wife of former Nigerian President, Shehu Shagari, Mrs Hadiza Shagari, is dead, Africa Daily News, New York reports.

According to highly placed sources, Mrs. Shagari died of COVID-19 complications on Thursday morning.

A statement issued by her Grandson, Bello Shagari on his Facebook page which was sighted by Africa Daily News, said the deceased died at the Gwagwalada Isolation Center in Abuja.

Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Alhaji Adamu Adamu expressed worry and disappointment over the rising numbers of out-of-school children in the country, stating that it is unacceptable and must be tackled head-on by all stakeholders.

Adamu made this disclosure at the ongoing 65th National Council on Education (NCE) meeting in Jalingo with the theme “Eradicating out-of-school children phenomenon: A tool for the achievement of education 2030 agenda”.
