Nigeria Borrows $700m From World Bank For Water Supply

World Bank To Fund Extra COVID-19 Jabs For Poorer Nations

A new World Bank financing mechanism has been put in place to allow developing countries to purchase Covid-19 vaccines collectively through the Covax facility, the scheme managers have revealed.

Covax was set up to ensure 92 developing territories could access coronavirus vaccines to fight the pandemic, with the cost covered by donors.

The new mechanism will allow those countries to buy additional doses on top of the subsidised ones they will already receive via Covax.

Thousands of Tunisians marched in several cities protesting against the ruling party, yesterday, criticising what they said was government failures in the North African nation amid crippling coronavirus rates.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has revealed that the Delta variant cases of COVID-19 have so far been identified in the country.

The Director-General of the organisation, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, made this disclosure during the health minister’s update on the COVID-19 pandemic in Abuja on Monday.
