UEFA Ends Investigation Over Neuer’s Rainbow Armband

European football’s governing body, UEFA, has terminated an investigation into a decision by German captain Manuel Neuer to wear a rainbow-coloured armband during Euro 2020 matches.

The Neuer controversy is one of a series of LGBTQ-related issues arising at the tournament.

Neuer wore the armband for his team’s opening group games against France and Portugal.

He also wore it in the 7-1 warm-up win over Latvia before the tournament.

No fewer than nine children and an adult have been confirmed dead following a fiery multi-vehicle crash on an Alabama highway as heavy storms lashed the southeastern US state.

The crash on an interstate highway near the city of Greenville involved at least 15 vehicles and may have been caused by aquaplaning under heavy rains, Butler County coroner Wayne Garlock told reporters yesterday.

The former president of Ivory Coast, Laurent Gbagbo, heavily criticized the Ivorian police yesterday for the violence which erupted during his long-awaited homecoming last week but insisted the country had to move on.

Gbagbo, a controversial figure acquitted by an international court of crimes against humanity, voiced concern over ‘violence perpetuated’ Thursday as thousands of supporters celebrated his return, according to a statement signed in his name by spokesman Justin Katinan Kone.

Police made massive use of tear gas to disperse crowds and, according to Gbagbo’s Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) party, arrested several dozen of his followers.

Suspected Bandits yesterday shot dead the village head of Dogon Daji in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mr. Anja Mallam.

No fewer than four people have been confirmed dead and four others severely injured on Saturday after a plane carrying parachutists crashed in Siberia, Russian authorities have confirmed.

Russian authorities confirmed that the L-410 plane carrying 19 people crashed around 10:00 am local time (0300 GMT) during a training flight at the Tanay airfield in the Siberian region of Kemerovo.
