Twitter Ban, A Violation Of Our Human Rights – Desmond Elliot

Nigerian filmmaker turned politician, Desmond Elliot, has lent his voice against the Federal Government’s decision to ban Twitter operations in Nigeria describing it as a withdrawal of human rights. 

Africa Daily News, New York had on Friday reported that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, announced the indefinite suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria.

Lai Mohammed had stated that the Federal Government had suspended, indefinitely, the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.

Biafra: Twitter Deletes Nnamdi Kanu’s Threat To Kill Soldiers

Popular micro-blogging platform Twitter has deleted a tweet by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

In the tweet earlier sighted by Africa Daily News, New York, Nnamdi Kanu had pledged that any soldier sent to the Southeast by the Nigerian Government will die.

Kanu, while reacting to the comment by President Muhammadu Buhari saying he would clamp down on those destroying government facilities in the South-East, had warned the army to keep off the region.

NDDC: Tompolo Withdraws 7-Day Ultimatum To FG

Former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND), Government Ekpemupolo said he has agreed to withdraw the seven-day ultimatum he issued to the Federal Government, over its failure to constitute a substantive Board for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

Ekpemupolo, who is popularly known as Tompolo, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.

He added that the ‘reluctantly’ withdrawal of the ultimatum, followed several appeals from Nigerians, including Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, and in the interest of peace in the troubled region and the country at large.
