Nigerian Navy Launches New Warship In UAE

The Nigerian Navy (NN) has announced the launching of a new Landing Ship Tank (LST) at Damen Shipyard, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

This announcement was contained in a statement available to newsmen in Abuja by Nigerian Navy Spokesman, Commodore Suleman Dahun, on behalf of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo.

He stated that the construction of the ship began about two years ago and when commissioned, would replace the first set of LSTs of the NN, NNS AMBE, and NNS OFIOM which have been decommissioned.

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of two aides to work in the ‘Office of the First Lady’, an office that has no backing in the 1999 constitution.

The first appointee, according to a statement by media adviser Femi Adesina is Dr. Rukayyatu Abdulkareem Gurin.

She will serve as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration and Women Affairs.

Rukayyatu is a doctorate degree holder in Curriculum Instruction from the University of Maiduguri.
