Indonesia Hits Record Of Over 21,000 Daily Virus Infections

Indonesia set a new record for daily coronavirus cases yesterday with more than 21,000, as hospitals are flooded with patients in Jakarta and other Covid-19 hotspots across Southeast Asia’s hardest-hit nation.

The figure brings the country’s tally for the pandemic to more than 2.1 million coronavirus cases with 57,138 deaths.

But the real number is believed to be much higher due to low testing rates for the deadly respiratory illness.

Gunmen Kill 15, Raze Minibuses In Burundi

No fewer than 15 people have been killed in central Burundi with at least 2 mini-buses burnt following an attack by gunmen.

The attack on Saturday evening was in Muramvya province, where 12 people died in a similar attack in May.

According to eyewitnesses, gunmen blocked a road with large stones under cover of darkness and then shot at the vehicles.

Two minibuses were set ablaze in the violent attack.

The mayor of the eastern DR Congo city of Beni has declared a curfew following three-weekend bomb attacks.

An artisanal bomb exploded early Sunday in a Catholic church in the city, injuring two women, followed hours later by a suicide bombing outside a bar.
