Democrats Launch Committee To Probe US Capitol Riot

The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi has formally announced that lawmakers will name a select committee to investigate the deadly US Capitol riot, weeks after Senate Republicans blocked the formation of a bipartisan, 9/11-style commission.

Speaking to reporters yesterday, she said; ‘This morning, with great solemnity and sadness, I am announcing that the House will be establishing a select committee on the January 6 insurrection,’

She described the attack on the citadel of American democracy by supporters of then-president Donald Trump as a ‘day of darkness’ for the nation that requires a thorough investigation.

Condo Collapse In Florida: 4 Dead, 159 Missing

Miami-Dade officials have said 159 people are now missing at the partially collapsed oceanfront apartment tower in Surfside, Florida.
