Retired Nigerian Military Officers Join Battle Against Bandits

Retired Nigerian military officers have been providing discreet intelligence to troops fighting bandits in the North-West.

The region is under siege by bandits who have kidnapped hundreds of students, teachers and other civilians in recent years.

The attacks surged since 2020, with news of the audacious invasion of schools and communities making headlines every week.

Security agencies say they are on their trail but most of the assailants are on the loose, continuing their atrocities.

There was some bit of confusion yesterday as some Israeli fighter jets were spotted launching a series of air raids on the Gaza Strip for the second time since a shaky ceasefire ended last month’s 11-day war.

Sources on the ground narrated that Israeli missiles yesterday evening hit several sites belonging to armed groups northwest of Gaza City and north of Beit Lahia in the besieged territory. A civil administration building east of Jabaliya in the north was also targeted, in addition to an agricultural field east of the southern town of Khan Younis. No casualties were reported.
