Electoral Act Must Be Amended For Credible Elections – Sen Gyang

Senator Istifanus Gyang representing PDP-Plateau North has called for the amendment of the Electoral Act for Nigeria to have credible elections.

Gyang stated this on Monday in Jos, Plateau State capital, while addressing newsmen on his midterm report in the National Assembly.

According to the lawmaker, the electoral act currently in use is outdated and does not take into consideration the current realities.

The Nigerian government has released a date for the opening to traffic of the 2nd Niger Bridge.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive of National Inland Waterways, NIWA, George Moghalu, announced that the 2nd Niger Bridge will be opened to traffic from February 2022.

Moghalu said this at the flag-off of a bathymetric survey of the Aghommili-Mmamu-Ezu-Nkisi-Niger River course, on Tuesday in Anambra State.

3 Soldiers Killed In Ivory Coast Ambush

No fewer than three security personnel were killed in an ambush on a military patrol in northern Ivory Coast, near the border with Burkina Faso, official army sources have disclosed.

According to security sources, two soldiers and a police officer died when their vehicle hit an explosive device.

No fewer than 400 migrants were been rescued from the Mediterranean by a vessel run by the medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF).

Denmark’s playmaker Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest when he collapsed during his side’s Euro 2020 opening match against Finland, his team’s doctor has confirmed.

Bandits have again attacked Kofar Gayan and Kofar Kona areas of Zaria and abducted some residents.

The attack was carried out last weekend by some yet-to-be-identified gunmen.

ASP Mohammed Jalige, Police Public Relations Officer, Kaduna State  Command, who confirmed the incident, said he was trying to gather details about the attack.
