NNPC Seeks To Acquire 20% Stake In Dangote Refinery

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has expressed interest in purchasing a 20 per cent minority equity stake in Dangote Refinery, Lagos, reputed to be Africa’s biggest oil refining facility and the world’s largest single-train plant.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) integrated refinery, expected to process a variety of light and medium grades of crude, including petrol and diesel as well as jet fuel and polypropylene is owned by Nigeria’s Dangote Group and is worth about $15 billion.

Repatriated Fund Goes To CBN, Not AGF’s Office – Malami

Amid allegations flying around that a whopping N2B was paid to his office from the repatriated Ibori loot, the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has come out to defend himself saying that recovered funds are not channelled to his office.

Malami said that the Federal Government has a designated account at the Central Bank of Nigeria for all recovered assets to be domiciled.

There had been the widespread accusations that the AGF’s office benefitted to the tune of N2B from the recently repatriated money from the United Kingdom for undisclosed services.

Kebbi Boat Mishap: Nigerian Govt Declares 156 Missing

The National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has declared 156 persons missing in the boat mishap which occurred in Kebi State yesterday.

Mr Yusuf Birma, NIWA area manager in Yauri Kebbi State, disclosed this, adding that the accident was caused by overloading.

Birma said rescue operation is still ongoing but added that four people have been confirmed dead, 20 rescued alive while 156 people are still missing.

Mali’s interim vice president Colonel Assimi Goita yesterday announced that he had seized power as a fresh coup within an older coup unravelled in the country.

Goita was one of the coup plotters that toppled the elected government of Ibrahim Boubacar Keita last August.

He said he took over power because President Bah Ndaw and Prime Minister Moctar Ouane failed to consult him about a cabinet reshuffle, which dropped two former coup leaders.
