Afolabi Ayantayo, Special Adviser, Parastatals Monitoring Office, disclosed this during the ministerial press briefing on Tuesday to commemorate the second anniversary of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-led administration held in Alausa, Ikeja.

Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State has approved the disengagement of 19 political appointees.

This was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Mr Muyiwa Adekeye, on Wednesday in Kaduna.

Adekeye said el-Rufai thanked the appointees for their service to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Recall that the governor had announced his plan to disengage some public servants in the state for fiscal reasons.

He had said a significant amount of the statutory federal allocations is being spent on the wages of public servants monthly.

The coronavirus variant first detected in India has now been officially recorded in 53 territories, a World Health Organization (WHO) report shows.

Additionally, the WHO has received information from unofficial sources that the B.1.617 variant has been found in seven other territories, figures in the UN health agency’s weekly epidemiological update showed on Wednesday, taking the total to 60.

The report said B.1.617 had shown increased transmissibility, while disease severity and risk of infection were under investigation.

The US has pledged to repair ties with the Palestinians by reopening a consulate in Jerusalem and help rebuild the conflict-torn Gaza Strip.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s comments came after meeting Palestinian leaders in the occupied West Bank.

Kenya will receive 72,000 Covid-19 vaccines from the Covax facility this week Africa Daily News, New York can confirm.
