European Union foreign ministers will hold urgent video talks on the escalating fighting between Israel and the Palestinians on Tuesday, the bloc’s foreign policy chief has revealed.

Josep Borrell wrote on Twitter yesterday that; ‘In view of the ongoing escalation between Israel and Palestine and the unacceptable number of civilian casualties, I am convening an extraordinary VTC of the EU Foreign Ministers on Tuesday,’ 

‘We will coordinate and discuss how the EU can best contribute to end the current violence.’

At least seven members of the Sudan military have been arrested and will be prosecuted in connection with the killing of two demonstrators in the capital, Khartoum, last week.

The head of the interim sovereign council running the country, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, ordered an investigation into Tuesday’s deaths that happened outside the army headquarters in Khartoum.

It has taken less than a week for the military in Sudan to investigate the killing of the two protesters.

Zimbabwe’s justice minister has accused the judiciary of overreach and said it had been ‘captured’ by ‘foreign forces’ in order to destabilise the county.

It came after the high court ruled that President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s extension of the chief justice’s term by five years was illegal.

In a strongly-worded statement, the minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi, said they would appeal the ‘baseless and meaningless‘ decision.

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) are getting set for a showdown following a directive by the labour union to all its affiliates to join the five-day warning strike.

Africa Daily News, New York can confirm that the strike began this morning at 12 am in protest against mass disengagement and other alleged anti-labour policies of the state government.

But the government insisted the mass disengagement of workers was in the interest of the larger population in the state.
