Buhari Meets Chad’s Interim President, Mahamat Deby

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday met behind closed doors with Gen. Mahamat Idriss Deby, President of Chad’s transitional military council, in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Africa Today News, New York reports that Deby, who took over the mantle of leadership in Chad after the death of his father on April 19, 2021, is on a one-day official visit to Nigeria.

Why I Will Never Link My Phone Line With NIN – Aisha Yusufu

A Nigerian socio-political activist, Aisha Yusufu has vowed not to link her subscriber identification module (SIM) to her National Identity Number (NIN).

Africa Daily News, New York recalls that the Federal Government on December 16 2020 ordered all telephone subscribers to link their line with NIN or be blocked.

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami who announced the directive, gave telecoms operators two weeks to link subscribers’ registered SIM cards on their networks to their NIN.

Following the instruction, the registration exercise would continue until May 6 according to the Communication Ministry.

Ivory Coast’s Prime Minister Patrick Achi is reportedly in France for medical treatment after suffering intestinal bleeding, sources close to his office revealed yesterday.

The 65 old Achi has been in France for three days and is set to return home on Friday, the sources told reporters under the condition of anonymity.

Ivorian authorities have released no information on the trip and have not responded to requests by AFP.

Achi, a veteran government figure close to President Alassane Ouattara, is the West African country’s third prime minister in the past year after his two predecessors died.
