Facebook’s independent oversight board said it would issue its final ruling on whether to leave in place a ban on former US President Donald Trump, who was removed from the platform for inciting violence.

A statement Monday from the panel said the ruling would come at around 1300 GMT on Wednesday, to be followed by a news conference.

The Trump ban came as several online platforms removed the social media-savvy leader over comments interpreted as encouraging the rioters who took over the US Capitol on January 6 in a deadly rampage.

A former governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has given conditions under which he would contest for the chairmanship of the ruling party.

According to Al-Makura, he would only take a shot at the office if the position of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is zoned to the North Central he will contest for it.

Ahead of the resumption of Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) which has been scheduled to begin in June, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday commenced the training for 36 members of staff from 18 states in Benin, the Edo State capital.

The trainees, drawn from the southwest, southeast, south-south states, and Benue State, would undergo a three-day training at a workshop organised by International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), supervised by officials from the INEC headquarters in Abuja.
