Sri Lanka Arrests Muslim Leader Over Easter Attacks
The police in Sri Lanka on Saturday announced that it has arrested a top Muslim legislator in connection with the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks that killed 279 people.
This breakthrough was achieved just as pressure mounted to speed up the investigation.
According to reports, detectives took Rishad Bathiudeen, leader of the All Ceylon Makkal Party (ACMP) and a former minister, into custody under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), police spokesman Ajith Rohana said.
Bathiudeen and his brother Riyaaj were arrested in pre-dawn raids on their homes in Colombo.

130 Killed In Libya Shipwreck, Despite SOS Calls
No fewer than 130 people lost their lives to a shipwreck off the Libyan coast despite SOS calls for help according to the UN migration agency.
The tragedy was confirmed late on Thursday by the volunteer rescue vessel, Ocean Viking, which found dozens of bodies floating in the water northeast of Tripoli.
It had been in distress since Wednesday morning, the NGO said in a statement.
Speaking to journalists in Geneva Switzerland, IOM spokesperson, Ms. Safa Msehli, said that the victims had been on board a rubber dinghy for two days before it sank in the central Mediterranean.

Buhari Reacts To ‘Barbaric’ Killing Of Kaduna Students
The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday condemned in strong terms the killing of three of the students kidnapped at Greenfield University, Kaduna State describing it as Barbaric.
In a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari decried the killing of the young students who were cut down by evil people in their prime while promising to ensure that the perpetrators of the dastardly acts were brought to book.

Mike Ozekhome, SAN, a constitutional lawyer and Human Rights Activist, has faulted the President Muhammadu Buhari-led presidency for defending the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, amid alleged links to terrorist organisations.
