Morocco Rebukes Spain Over Virus Help To Secessionist Leader

Morocco’s Foreign Affairs Ministry has summoned the Spanish ambassador to convey the government’s ‘regret’ over its decision to allow the leader of a regional group fighting Morocco for independence to access medical treatment in its country.  

Spanish officials had last week revealed that Brahim Ghali, 73, is hospitalized in Spain for treatment of COVID-19.

It is common knowledge that Ghali heads the Polisario Front, an Algeria-backed breakaway movement that seeks to establish an independent state in the Western Sahara region, which has been oftentimes seen engaging the Moroccan armed forces.

Italy has placed a ban on all arrivals from recent Covid-19 hotspot India, although Italian residents are exempted, Health Minister Roberto Speranza disclosed on Sunday.

‘I have signed a new decree banning people from entering Italy who has been in India within the past 14 days,‘ Speranza wrote on Facebook.

Ahead of a limited reopening set to begin across Italy on Monday, he added that ‘We can’t let our guard down’

Over 23 Killed In Fire Outbreak At Iraqi Covid Hospital

No fewer than 23 people died when a fire broke out yesterday in a coronavirus intensive care unit in the capital of Iraq, a country with a severally dilapidated health infrastructure facing mounting Covid-19 cases.

The fire started with an explosion caused by ‘a fault in the storage of oxygen cylinders’, medical sources told journalists.

Pope Expresses ‘Sadness’ Over Disappearance Of 130 Migrants

The head of the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Francis on Sunday expressed deep ‘sadness’ and ‘shame’ over the fate of 130 migrants who went missing after their boat capsized in the Mediterranean last week.

According to the European humanitarian group, SOS Mediterranee no fewer than ten bodies were spotted near a capsized rubber boat off the coast of Libya, which had around 130 people aboard.

‘I confess to you that I am very saddened by the tragedy which once again occurred in recent days in the Mediterranean, he told the faithful gathered in Saint Peter’s Square.
