Four UN Troops Killed In Major Attack In Northern Mali

The UN mission has revealed that four United Nations peacekeepers were killed Friday when suspected jihadists staged a major attack on their camp in Aguelhok, northern Mali.

The peacekeepers ‘bravely pushed back a complex attack carried out by several heavily-armed terrorists,’ MINUSMA said in a statement, adding that four troops had died and others were wounded, according to a provisional toll.

The statement said the attackers had suffered heavy losses and had abandoned “several of their dead”.

Shell Confirms Oil Spill In Bayelsa Community

The Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) has confirmed an oil spill from its facility at Agbura-Otuokpoti area of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.

The confirmation came from The company’s Media Relations Manager, Bamidele Odugbesan when he spoke to newsmen in an interview.

According to Odugbesan, the company got a report of the spill on March 31. ‘At about 8.30 am on March 31, a community surveillance vendor reported a leak on the company’s Joint Venture pipeline at Nun River in Bayelsa.

Missing Alpha-Jet Aircraft Might Have Crashed – NAF

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Thursday said intelligence gathered by its surveillance aircraft, Special Forces, and ground troops indicates that its missing aircraft might have crashed.

Recall that NAF Alpha-Jet aircraft (NAF-475) went off the radar with two crew members on board on March 31.

A statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, stated that the cause of the crash and the whereabouts of the two pilots remain unknown.

According to Gabkwet, the pilots are Flt.-Lt. John Abolarinwa and Flt.- Lt. Ebiakpo Chapele.

The Nigerian Air Force’s Alpha jet which was previously missing has been discovered. It was found to have crashed at Abba-Jille in Konduga LGA of Borno State.
