Ethiopia Deny Troop’s Involvement In Tigray Massacre

Ethiopia’s defence ministry has dismissed viral reports that its troops were responsible for the gruesome massacre of 15 men in the northern Tigray region.

From video evidence shot near the historic city of Axum, the BBC and CNN and other media outlets concluded that Ethiopian soldiers had shot unarmed men at point-blank range before pushing their bodies off a cliff.

The bodies of 12 people, possibly foreigners, were on Thursday found beheaded in the Mozambican town of Palma that was attacked by militant Islamists last month, a local police commander has revealed.

The local police officer by name, Pedro da Silva showed journalists the spot where he said he had buried the 12.

‘They were tied up and beheaded here,’ he said in footage broadcast by state TV on Wednesday.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has denied torturing Sa’idu Afaka, President Muhammadu Buhari’s driver to death.

In a statement, Peter Afunanya, the Public Relations Officer, insisted Afaka was never arrested or detained by the Service.

The spokesman said ‘it is a known fact’ that the agency does not torture suspects.

‘Its suspect handling method is usually in compliance with the tenets of the criminal justice administration system and democracy,’ he said.
