Retired Police Officers Stage Peaceful Protest Over Pensions

Retired Police officers in Cross River State have staged a peaceful protest to complain about poor remuneration.

The protesters during the peaceful rally threatened to move out of the pension scheme.

The retired Police officers described the pension scheme as fraudulent and raised an alarm of corruption in the pension and housing scheme.

NNPC Denies Financial Distress Amid Concerns Over Letter To AGF

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says reports about its financial distress are inaccurate.

NNPC spokesman, Kennie Obateru in a statement on Friday clarified the revenue projection contained in the letter to the Accountant General of the Federation.

He said the letter was only on the Federation revenue stream being managed by the NNPC and not a reflection of the overall financial performance of the corporation.

NNPC said it is conscious of its role and was doing everything possible to shore up revenues and support the nation at all times.

38,000 Jobseekers Apply For Edo’s 3,000 Teaching Positions

No fewer than 38,000 applicants applied for only 3000 teaching positions in the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board.

Speaking to journalists yesterday, the chairman of the board, Joan Osa Oviawe, said moves to employ 3,000 teachers was to boost technical and vocational education training.

According to her the 3,000 teachers are to be recruited under the Edo Supporting Teachers to Achieve Result (STAR) teacher recruitment programme.
