Nigeria’s Unity Not Guaranteed – Amaechi

Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi yesterday admitted that the concerns about Nigeria’s unity were legitimate, he, however, noted that the clamour was transient and could be resolved through the active engagement of all stakeholders.

In recent times, the clamor for restructuring and regional self-determination has grown to take the center stage in national public discourse.

Amaechi spoke at the 34th Convocation Lecture of the University of Calabar, where he delivered a lecture titled, ‘Beyond our Imperfect Union: The National Question and Nigeria’s Future.’

The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has revealed why the admission board introduced the use of National Identity Number (NIN) for the registration of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to the JAMB chief, the National Identification Number (NIN) was introduced in order to checkmate examination malpractices as well as for security reasons.

The JAMB Registrar spoke in Abuja on Friday during a virtual meeting with owners of computer-based test (CBT) centres, service providers and other stakeholders to kick start the 2021 UTME registration.

The Police in Lagos State have released Kari Ann O’Rourke, an American held in custody since February 9, 2021.

Senegal’s government on Wednesday announced the postponement of local elections which was due to take place this month.

This is the third time such delay for polls that were initially set for 2019 would be witnessed.
