Insecurity: Recruit 50M Youths Into Army, Tinubu Urges FG

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Monday, urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to consider recruiting at least 50 million youths into the Nigerian Army to boost Nigeria’s fight against terrorism, banditry and all forms of internal and external security threats bedeviling the nation.

Tinubu gave this advice when he spoke at the 12th colloquium to celebrate his 69th birthday in Kano State.

According to him, ‘We are under-policed and we are competing with armed robbers and bandits to recruit from the youths who are unemployed —33 percent unemployed?’

Egypt buried the dead Saturday from a train collision that killed at least 19 people and injured 185, according to a revised toll, as investigators probed the country’s latest deadly rail crash.

Health Minister Hala Zayed told reporters that an initial toll of 32 killed in Friday’s crash was revised down, while the number of injured rose from 165.

“After we honed in on the details of those killed and injured… at this moment there are 185 injured and 19 corpses and three bags of body parts,” Zayed said, without giving further details.

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the release of the Traditional Ruler of Ikuru in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, His Royal Majesty, King Aaron Miller who was Kidnaped by unknown gunmen at his residence almost a month ago.

Dozens of people were killed during coordinated jihadist attacks staged in northern Mozambique’s Palma town, the defence ministry said Sunday, four days after the raids were launched.

The Lagos State Ministry of Health has stated that no fewer than 127,885 Lagosians have taken the COVID-19 vaccine, 10 days after the commencement of the exercise.

Commissioner for Health in the State, Prof. Akin Abayomi, who made this disclosure on Sunday after he received reports of day 10 of the exercise from the State Primary Health Care Board, said with the figure, Lagos has vaccinated more people compared to other States of the Federation and FCT.
