The Senate Committee on Public Accounts, on Wednesday, made a shocking revelation as to how the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) allegedly spent ₦443 billion on oil subsidy in 2016 without budgetary provision or appropriation by the national assembly.

To this effect, the panel has summoned the leadership of the oil firm to brief it on the expenditure.

The committee’s chairman, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, issued the summon on Wednesday when the panel considered a 2016 report by the Auditor-General for the Federation.

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has urged the Federal Government to extend its ‘no-fly zone’ order which was recently declared in Zamfara on other states with security challenges.

The forum noted that it has credible evidence that Bandits in different states such as Taraba, Benue, Borno, and others always get weapons and ammunition delivered to them in their various enclaves via Helicopters.

The ACF equally congratulated the people and government of Zamfara state on the safe release of the kidnapped schoolgirls from Jangebe Government Girls Secondary School in the state.

The House of Representatives on Tuesday urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to review the federal constituencies and senatorial districts.

The green chamber made the call following a motion by the Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu on Wednesday.

Elumelu in his motion said INEC had failed to comply with section 73 subsections a and b of the 1999 Constitution.
