We Need Yoruba Nation Now, Sunday Igboho Declares

Self-acclaimed Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has stated that his agitation is for the freedom of the Yoruba nation and he was never going to give up the dream.

Igboho made this revelation in a statement issued by his media aide, Olayomi Koiki on Thursday while calling on anyone willing to join the agitation for Yoruba nation to join the group.

‘Anyone who is willing to support the agitation for Yoruba Nation is highly welcome, the goal is ‘Yoruba nation now.’

We Are Broke, Nigerian House of Reps Members Cry Out

Members of the Nigerian House of Representatives on Thursday revealed that it is broke and cannot afford to carry out its constitutional mandate effectively.

Rep. Benjamin Kalu (APC-Abia), the spokesman for the House, made this disclosure when he spoke with newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

The lawmaker reiterated that it has become imperative to upwardly review the budget of the National Assembly to enable it to cope with the situation and meet its financial obligations.

YouTube To Start Deducting Taxes From Nigerian Creators

YouTube has announced plans to start deducting taxes from creators outside the United States on the earnings they generate from viewers in the US.

The company made this known in an email to creators.

The additional tax may come into effect from June, 2021.

YouTube also demanded that creators submit their tax information in AdSense ‘to determine the correct amount of taxes to deduct’.

Popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has disclosed that his interactions with bandits were done in the presence of government officials.

Gumi disclosed this while rebuking those calling for his arrest and prosecution over his interaction with bandits.

The Islamic cleric described those calling for his arrest as ‘clowns.’

Recall that the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, had called for the arrest and prosecution of Sheikh Gumi.

HURIWA had pointed out that Gumi’s interaction with bandits was a treasonable offence that should be decisively dealt with.

$1B More Needed For COVAX Vaccine Rollout – UNICEF

The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has appealed to countries to donate more money to help poor countries to access COVID-19 vaccines, revealing that at least $1 billion is needed to achieve desirable targets.

UNICEF, which is the world’s single largest vaccine buyer, is part of the World Health Organisation-backed COVAX programme to supply COVID-19 shots to emerging economies.

“We have been asking the world for more funding for UNICEF and our distribution to countries we still need about $1 billion,” UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore said at Dubai’s World Government Summit.
