Nigerian Islamic Society Backs NDLEA’s Drug War

An Islamic society, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’Iqammatis Sunnah (JIBWIS-Nigeria), has thrown its full weight and support for the renewed fight against drug abuse and trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The society gave this backing on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, when its leadership paid a courtesy visit to the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) at the Agency’s national headquarters in Abuja.

Catholic Priest Reportedly Shot Dead In Benue

A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr Fabian Ngugban of Aye Twar parish, Agu Centre near Sai, Katsina-Ala LGA has been reportedly shot dead by unknown gunmen.

A source who resides in the area, Gbande U Logo told Africa Daily News, New York that the incident occurred at about 10 am on Tuesday morning.

According to him, the gunmen invaded the community and were shooting sporadically before gunning down the priest.

He said that the attack has triggered tension in the area as many fled for dear lives.

FG, States’ Debt Profile Rise To ₦32.92trn — NBS

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that as of the end of Q4 2020 which is Dec. 31, 2020, Nigeria’s total public debt portfolio stood at ₦32.92 trillion.

It made the revelation in its Nigerian Domestic and Foreign Debt report for Quarter Four, 2020, obtained from its website on Monday in Abuja.

It added that the debt profile was for the States and the Federal Government.

According to the bureau, Nigeria’s total public debt showed that ₦12.71 trillion or 38.60 percent of the debt was external, while ₦20.21 trillion or 61.40 percent of the debt was domestic.
