American Detained In Lagos Over Host’s Death Released

The Police in Lagos State have released Kari Ann O’Rourke, an American held in custody since February 9, 2021.

Last week, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) sounded the alarm of her health.

Kari Ann was arrested at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) on February 8, 2021, following the death of her host in Nigeria.

She was detained for 44 days at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos.

The Police kept in custody even after the autopsy report indicated that her male host died of heart trauma and cardiac arrest.

UTME: Why NIN Is Compulsory For Registration – JAMB Registrar

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it made use of the National Identity Number (NIN) for registration of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) compulsory, in a bid to checkmate examination malpractices.

JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, stated this during a virtual meeting with owners of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres on Friday.

Again, Senegal Postpones Local Elections

Senegal’s government on Wednesday announced the postponement of local elections which was due to take place this month.

This is the third time such delay for polls that were initially set for 2019 would be witnessed.

However, no new date was given for the vote for municipalities and local districts. The cabinet has approved the postponement and extended the mandates of those currently in office, a government statement said.

Groups Set June 12 For For Yoruba Nation Referendum

Yoruba Groups, under the umbrella of all ‘Yoruba Groups Worldwide’, have set aside June 12 as the day of referendum for the Yoruba nation on the self-determination agenda.

This and other resolutions were reached at a meeting held at the Western Hall, Oyo State Secretariat Complex, Ibadan, with the theme: ‘The Paramountcy of Yoruba Unity in Tackling The Insecurity Menace in Yorubaland.’
