Presidential Amnesty Scheme Grossly Mismanaged – Reps

A Committee on Public Accounts in the House of Representatives yesterday alleged that the Presidential Amnesty scheme has been grossly mismanaged by those saddled with its affairs.

The committee made this allegation following the inability of the new interim administration led by Col. M. Dixon Dikio (rtd) to properly account for monies paid to ex-agitators and contractors over the last couple of years.

Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network called Amotekun Corps on Tuesday arrested nine herders and seized 100 cows along the Akure-Ilesa highway.

According to the security outfit, the herders were arrested for flouting Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s directives that herdsmen should get registered.

Fight Against Piracy: UK Government Donates Vessel To NDLEA

In partnership with the UK Border Force, the British Deputy High Commission in Lagos, the Ministry of Defence (MoD), and the National Crime Agency (NCA) has donated a Rigid-Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The RHIB is aimed at improving NDLEA’s already effective capability to patrol and intercept vessels of interest and detect criminality that operates in and around the waterways surrounding Lagos.

The deployment of the NDLEA patrol RHIB will also be instrumental in deterring criminals and reducing maritime crime such as drug smuggling, piracy, robbery, and kidnapping.
