Benue People Against Killer Herdsmen, Not Any Tribe – Gov Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State says indigenes of his state were fighting against terrorists, killer herdsmen as well as criminality and not against any Fulani as some Nigerians believe.

Ortom made the clarification on Monday in Makurdi, while briefing journalists on the state of insecurity in Benue.

‘We are not against any tribe, especially the Fulani people, but rather against terrorists, killer herdsmen, bandits, kidnappers and all types of criminals within the state.’

‘We are actively supporting our security agencies to ensure that all remaining pockets of banditry, kidnappings among others, are mitigated,’ he added.

Armed bandits on Sunday reportedly razed the building of the Holy Family Catholic Church, and two homes, in Kikwari village, Kajuru local government area of Kaduna state in what seemed to very coordinated attacks.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, Samuel Aruwan,  who confirmed the attacks revealed that locals fled the area on receiving information that some bandits were sighted outside the village and the bandits simply had a free day.
