Why IGP’s Tenure Extension Is Illegal – Ozekhome

A senior advocate of Nigeria and human rights lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, on Thursday, described President Muhammadu Buhari’s act of extending the tenure of Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu as ‘unconstitutional’.

Ozekhome, while reacting to the extension when he appeared on Channels Television’s programme: ‘Politics Today’, monitored by our correspondent, said the President was wrong to have extended the IGP’s tenure considering what the new Police Act stipulates.

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, approved the extension of the tenure of Mr. Mohammed Adamu as the Inspector General of Police (IG) by three months.

German health authorities are working at high speed to gain an overview of mutations of the COVID-19 virus believed to be spreading rapidly through the population, government spokesman Steffen Seibert said in Berlin on Wednesday.

An official report on the actual spread of the variants, which are thought to be more transmissible, is expected at the start of next week.

By Tuesday, 114 cases of the variant first identified in Britain had been found in Cologne, along with 52 cases of that first discovered in South Africa, an official spokeswoman said.
