Nigeria’s immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai (Rtd) has revealed why he won’t respond to the comments by the opposition party while insisting that he owes no one explanation over his recent appointment as one of the non-career ambassadors.

President Muhammadu Buhari has hailed America for supporting the candidacy of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the position of Director-General of World Trade Organisation (WTO).

The office of the United States Trade Representative announced this on Friday.

In a statement on Saturday by his spokesperson, Gara Shehu, Buhari said the withdrawal of the country’s initial objection was remarkable.

A Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has said those agitating for Biafra and Oduduwa Republics are not different from the Boko Haram sect terrorists.

The United States has at last backed Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the Director-General position at the World Trade Organisation, WTO.

This followed the stepping down of South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee from the contest on Friday.

The US had blocked Okonjo-Iweala’s candidacy for the DG WTO job back in October after all member countries endorsed her candidacy.
