French Envoy Predicts Economic Recovery, Growth For Nigeria

The deputy Regional Economic Counsellor, for the West African region, French Embassy, William Levasseur, has expressed optimism and positivity that with the price of oil rising globally, Nigeria will recover economically, creating opportunities for starters as well as Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs).

Levasseur made this disclosure yesterday at a webinar organized by Franco-Nigeria Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in partnership with AELEX, on the theme ‘Finance Act 2020: Implications For Businesses’.

Pope Francis has appointed Professor Roberto Bernabei as his new personal doctor.

The Vatican in a statement on Wednesday said Bernabei, who is an expert in health care for the elderly, will be taking over from the previous one who died from coronavirus complications.

The Federal High Court, Abuja, has refused to grant Abdulrasheed Maina, a former Chairman of defunct Pension Reformed Task Force Team (PRTT) bail.

Zambian Police Officer Charged With Killing Protesters

The Zambian police on Wednesday announced that they had arrested an officer on murder charges over the deadly shooting that resulted in the death of two anti-government protesters in December.

The officer by name Fanwell Nyundu, 25, is accused of killing two of the protesters as they demonstrated outside a police station where opposition party leader Hakainde Hichilema was being questioned.

‘The suspect is in police custody and yet to appear in court,’ police spokeswoman Esther Katongo said in a statement.

Nyundu would face two counts of murder when his trial commences.
