Police Clears-Air On Alleged Influx Of Herdsmen To Ekiti Forests

The Police Command in Ekiti State on Wednesday denied insinuations that there was an influx of herdsmen into forests in the state from Ondo State forest reserves as being reported in the media.

The command disclosed this in a statement signed in Ado-Ekiti by Mr. Sunday Abutu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr. Tunde Mobayo.

FG To Shut Third Mainland Bridge For Another 72 hours

The Federal Controller of Works Lagos, Mr. Olukayode Popoola on Wednesday announced another three days of a total shutdown of the Third Mainland Bridge for another round of delicate expansion joints replacement.

Popoola told a correspondent on a telephone that the shutdown would take effect from midnight on Friday to midnight of Monday, Feb. 1.

He explained that construction works had reached the stage for casting concrete on additional three expansion joints, hence the need to stop all movements on the bridge that could cause vibrations.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Wednesday, promised Nigerians that the parliament will pass the long-awaited Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) into law in April this year all things being equal.

The Speaker gave the assurance while delivering his remarks at the public hearing organized by the House Ad hoc Committee on PIB at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Mali has officially disbanded its military junta, according to a government decree seen by AFP on Tuesday, over five months after the army deposed president Ibrahim Boubacar Keita.

Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, on Tuesday disclosed that the synchronized efforts by the monetary and fiscal authorities to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic have led to the disbursement of ₦2. trillion as of January this year.

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), to collaborate with Dynali Company, a Belgian Helicopter Manufacturing Company, for the local production of helicopters.

No fewer than 70 lockup shops have been destroyed by an ugly fire outbreak that occurred in Alade Market in Somolu. This was according to the Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.
