New Zealand Central Bank Hit By Cyber Attack

New Zealand’s central bank said Sunday it was responding with urgency to a ‘malicious’ breach of one of its data systems, a third-party file sharing service that stored ‘sensitive information’.

Reserve Bank of New Zealand governor Adrian Orr said the breach had been contained and the system was taken offline but it would take time to determine what information had been accessed.

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has warned that South-West Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, must not become another Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.

Soyinka stated this on Saturday, while featuring on Arise TV.

The revered author noted that men of the Amotekun Corps, must be trained on the issue of ethics, so that they do not become more brutal and ruthless than the defunct SARS.

A Boeing 737-524 aircraft carrying 62 people crashed into the Java Sea on Saturday.

The accident occurred shortly after the jet took off from the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

The last contact with Sriwijaya Air Flight 182 was at 2:40 p.m. local time, the Transportation Ministry said.

It was heading to the city of Pontianak in Borneo island.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) says some countries have purchased more COVID-19 vaccines than they would need.

WHO Director-General, WHO, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus at a news conference in Geneva appealed to them to donate the excess vaccines to COVAX immediately.
