Nigeria Frees 4,000 Inmates Due To Logistics

The federal government said logistics was the major reason more than 4,000 inmates were released from prisons across Nigeria.

Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, spoke on Tuesday at the inauguration of 53 operational vehicles purchased for the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).

He said those released benefited from the Federal Government Amnesty Programme launched in April 2020.

The minister said the exercise had gone a long way in reducing the number of inmates.

Aregbesola disclosed the NCoS had a deluge of Awaiting Trial Persons (ATPs) as against convicts.

Alibaba founder, Jack Ma, suspected to be missing has reappeared.

Yahoo Finance had reported that Ma was last seen on October 24, 2020, when he called for economic reform in a speech in Shanghai.

However, he appeared for the first time since the end of October in a video message distributed by Chinese state media on Wednesday.

In the video message, the 56-year-old was seen addressing 100 teachers in rural areas.

Ma also announced plans to engage in philanthropic endeavours, more than he had before.

The Ondo State Government has declared that the presidency is emotionally attached to Fulani herdsmen.

The State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo was reacting to the statement by the Presidency against the directive of the State government banning the operation of unregistered Fulani herdsmen in its forest.
