It was a frustrating night for Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi as he was sent off with few minutes left to play in Barcelona’s loss to Athletic Club in the Super Copa finals on Sunday night.

62 Shops, Houses Destroyed In Lagos Market Fire Outbreak

No fewer than 62 shops and some residential buildings were left destroyed after fire gutted the Ijesha market in the Oshodi area of Lagos state on Saturday.

The fire incident, which according to eyewitnesses started at about 5 pm and was put out at 8.50 pm, affected 62 traders and about 28 households.

No Plans To Cancel Tokyo Olympics – Japanese Officials

Japan’s government on Sunday dismissed suggestions that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics scheduled for this summer could be canceled owing to the coronavirus pandemic.

‘We have decided the venues and schedule, and the people involved are working on preparations, including infection control,‘ the Kyodo news agency quoted government spokesman Katsunobu Kato as saying.

The statement came after reports quoted Taro Kono, the minister for administrative and regulatory reform, as saying that ‘anything can happen” and ‘it could go either way‘ with the Games postponed from last year.

48 Killed in Sudan Ethnic Conflict

No fewer than 48 people have been left dead as Clashes between different ethnic groups in Sudan’s West Darfur took a different dimension over the weekend, Sudan’s news agency says quoting the doctors’ union.

The fighting in the state capital, El Geneina, began on Saturday after a row in which a man was stabbed to death.

A state-wide curfew has been imposed and Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok has sent a delegation to investigate.
