Kankara Abduction: DHQ Denies Miyetti Allah’s Involvement

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters, DHQ, has refuted claims that Fulani socio-cultural organisation, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, effected the release of the abducted Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State.

John Enenche, spokesman of DHQ said the military rescued the students and not MACBAN members as claimed.

Enenche’s remark contradicts claim of Bello Matawalle, Governor of Zamfara, who said MACBAN negotiated the release of the students.

In a statement, Enenche disclosed that troops of Operation Hadarin Daji rescued the abducted students.

Freed Katsina Schoolboys Vow Not To Return To School

Some of the kidnapped 344 students of Government Science Secondary School who regained freedom on Thursday night, have vowed not to return to school until adequate security measures are put in place by the state government.

The schoolboys who arrived at Katsina State Government House on Friday morning urged Governor Aminu Bello Masari to relocate the school to Kankara town. The Students were driven into the Government House in a convoy escorted by the 17 Brigade Commander, Brig-General WB Idris and other top security operatives according to report.

The United States (U.S.) on Thursday told the Nigerian government to hold those responsible for the abduction of hundreds of children from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State, accountable.

IG Adamu Promotes 4,134 Traffic Warden Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has promoted 4,134 traffic warden officers to their next ranks.

Mr Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer, made this known in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the statement, the promotion included 65 officers who were elevated to the rank of a Deputy Superintendent of Traffic, 245 officers to Assistant Superintendent of Traffic II, 138 officers elevated to Senior Traffic Warden, as well as 3,683 personnel promoted to Grade I and three personnel from Grade III to Grade II.
