Insecurity: Details Of Buhari’s Meeting With 36 Govs

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the 36 State Governors of the federation to work more with traditional rulers and community members to improve local intelligence gathering to reduce insecurity in the country.

The president’s spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, in a statement, said Buhari gave the charge at a security meeting with the 36 governors in Abuja, on Tuesday.

According to the presidential aide, Buhari listened to presentations by a governor from each of the six Geo-Political Zones on their specific security challenges.

Buhari Gives Reasons For Planned Reopening Of Land Borders

President Muhamadu Buhari, on Tuesday, revealed that the land borders will soon be opened for trade.

It would be recalled that the land borders have been shut to trade since August 2019 save for recent waivers granted to Dangote Groups and other companies.

The official handle tweeted that restriction was put in place to stem the illegal smuggling of weapons.

He noted that he explained to governors during the behind the closed door meeting that the governments of the neighbouring countries have gotten the message.

Nigeria Embassy Germany Sacks Staff For Sexual Misconduct

The Nigerian Embassy in Berlin, Germany, has fired one of its workers Martins Adedeji Oni for sexual misconduct.

The said Mr Oni who is a security officer was sacked for demanding sexual favours in return for help to renew a passport. Back in November, half naked Mr. Oni was seen on a viral video footage arguing with a lady who accused him demanding for sex from females who applied for passport.

The Embassy on Tuesday released a statement saying that Mr Oni’s employment contract was terminated following an investigation into allegations of corruption and sexual misconduct.

Some local airlines in Nigerian at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja have given reasons for the upsurge in fares to the current exchange rate.
