FG Approves ₦8.1bn For Rehabilitation Of Roads

The Federal Executive Council has approved ₦8.1 billion for the rehabilitation of some roads.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, said this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the council meeting, presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House, Abuja.

Governor el-Rufai Sacks 23 Education Secretaries, GM

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has on Tuesday, sacked education secretaries in the 23 local government areas of the state.

El-Rufai explained that there was a need to adjust personnel cost, and deepen reforms in the education sector in the state.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Mr Muyiwa Adekeye, entitled, ‘KDSG removes GM, LG education secretaries,’ said the General Manager of Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has also been removed.

Breaking: ASUU Finally Calls-Off Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Wednesday called off its industrial action.

ASUU Chairman, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi disclosed this during a press briefing on Wednesday, after the union’s ongoing negotiation with the Federal Government.

Recall that ASUU had been on strike for about nine months.

The prolonged strike was due to government’s alleged delay in meeting the agreements reached with the union.

DSS Uncovers Plans To Bomb Churches, Mosques, Others

The Department of State Services (DSS) has alerted Nigerians about plans by some criminal elements to carry out violent attacks on critical infrastructure, places of worship, recreational centers and other public places during the yuletide seasons.

It said the planned dastardly acts are to be executed through the use of explosives, suicide bombing, and other dangerous weapons.

The DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, said the objective of the attack is to create a general sense of fear among the people and subsequently undermine the Government.
