The performing lawmaker representing Owerri North State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Honourable Engr. Philip Ejiogu, popularly called Mr. Integrity, has been appointed as an International Peace Ambassador by the United Nations Polac.

A female television journalist, Malalai Maiwand, was killed in Afghanistan on Thursday. The journalist who is also a women’s rights activist, was shot and killed along with her driver in an incident that underscores an increasing trend of violence against journalists in the country.

Malalai Maiwand, a reporter at Enikas Radio and TV in Nangarhar, was killed along with her driver in an attack on their vehicle in Jalalabad, capital of the eastern province of Nangarhar. Her death has taken the total number of journalists and media workers killed this year in Afghanistan to 10.

The International Criminal Court of Justice has dropped the war crime case against the United Kingdom despite finding evidence of war crime, the report says.

The prosecutor in a statement on Wednesday said she was dropping a preliminary probe into alleged war crimes by British troops in Iraq, even though she found a reasonable basis to believe they committed atrocities.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has stated that the Federal Government lied against the union on the date to call off strike.

The body denied that it reached an agreement with the federal government, to call off its ongoing strike on December 9, 2020.

Amnesty Int’l Indicts Nigeria Military On Rights Abuses

Amnesty International has accused the Nigeria Military for human right abuses indicating that at least 10,000 civilians have died in Nigerian military custody since 2011.

The civilians were mostly those detained in connection with the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeast states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.

Amnesty International in its report said that many of the deaths were recorded at the ‘infamous Giwa Barracks’ in Maiduguri, capital of Borno state.

‘In April 2017 alone, 166 corpses were transferred from Giwa to the mortuary,’ the report said.

‘Severe overcrowding, scarce food and water, extreme heat, infestation by parasites and insects,
