I Have Three Children In Public Universities – Ngige

Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has restated the commitment of Federal Government to end the eight-month strike embarked on by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

He described as untrue, comments that government officials have been foot-draggers in the ongoing negotiations with the university lecturers because their children school abroad.

Ngige said, ‘I have three biological children in public schools. They are in public schools; they are not in private universities. Unlike ASUU members who have most of their children in private universities, three of mine are here. So, I am a very big stakeholder

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, on Monday rejigged his cabinet following the removal of Adekola Olawoye, SAN, as the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney-General of the State.

Following the removal of Olawoye, the governor replaced him with Charles Titiloye, as the new Attorney General of the State.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Segun Ajiboye, in a statement issued, Titiloye’s name will be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for confirmation.

Strike Looms As Labour Walks Out From Meeting With FG

Labour union representatives yesterday staged a walk-out from a meeting with the Nigerian Government.

The labour union walked out of the meeting barely five minutes after it started.

The president of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Quadri Olaleye, told Channels Television that the hike in the price of fuel and electricity tariffs were top on the meeting agenda and not issues of palliatives.

He accused the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government of dishonesty and painting the organised labour in a bad light before the general public.

FG Criticised Over Plan To Import Petroleum From Niger Republic

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has described as embarrassing Federal Government’s plan to import petroleum products from Niger Republic.

Onuesoke, a former Delta State gubernatorial aspirant said that the pronouncement sounded unbelievable to him because Nigeria has four refineries while Niger Republic has only one.

Recall that Ministry of Petroleum Resources announced on Thursday that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Niger Republic to import petroleum products from desert country.
