COVID-19 Protocol: Lagos Govt Pardons Funke Akindele, Others

Lagos State Government on Friday granted pardon to Nollywood actress Funke Akindele her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello.

They were convicted in April for breaching the COVID-19 protocols and lockdown rules.

The held a party in their home at 9 Gbadamosi Close, Amen Estate in Abijo.

The couple ran into trouble for hosting more than the number of persons allowed at gatherings – 20.

Music artiste, Azeez Fashola aka Naira Marley and a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Babatunde Gbadamosi, among others attended.

CBN Warns Nigerians Against Loan Offers, Investment Schemes

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has alerted Nigerians on fraudulent loan offers and investment schemes.

It cited information and videos circulating on social media.

The messages had asked loan seekers and small-scale business owners to apply for funds.

But in a statement, CBN said while it has several development finance intervention programmes for different categories of businesses, it does not directly interact with prospective applicants.

The apex bank explained that its interventions are only disbursed through participating financial institutions (PFIs) such as deposit money banks (DMBs), development finance institutions (DFIs) and microfinance banks (MFBs).

Gunmen seized about 20 people in volatile central Mali, with nine remaining in detention Wednesday after their captors released the other hostages, local and security officials said.

The kidnapping occurred on Tuesday during a weekly market in the village of Farabougou, near the central Malian town of Niono, according to Boukary Coulibaly, the village chief.
