Bullet Shells Recovered At Lekki Shooting Scene

Five more bullet shells have been recovered at the Lekki Toll Gate, where #EndSARS protesters were reportedly shot at on Tuesday night of 20th October, 2020.

The bullet shells were found at the scene during an inspection by the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS Related Abuses & Lekki Toll Gate Incident this morning.

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has lauded the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for sanctioning three broadcast media stations for their coverage of End SARS protests.

A statement on Friday by the Chairman, Niyi Akinsiju and the Secretary, Cassidy Madueke, claimed the organisations breached extant regulatory guidelines.

BMO aligned with NBC’s position that Arise TV, AIT and Channels TV contributed to the escalation of the crisis.

The body noted that the sanction sends a strong and unambiguous message to the broadcast industry in Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday called the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, to convey best wishes to him on the occasion of his 77th birthday.

Malam Garba Shehu, Buhari’s spokesman, said this in a statement on Thursday.

He disclosed that the president again commiserated with the traditional ruler on the recent violence that led to the loss of lives and property in Lagos.

The United Kingdom Government provided training and equipment to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police.

On Thursday, Minister for Africa, James Duddridge admitted British officials trained the operatives between 2016 and 2020.

Now disbanded, SARS acted with impunity, killing and torturing citizens.

Their excesses birthed the End SARS nationwide protests and calls for an end to police brutality.

The UK had initially denied any ties with the police unit.
