Some staff of the University of Ibadan on Wednesday protested against what they termed as ‘imposition’ of some candidates for the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that no fewer than eighteen professors are jostling for the position of the University’s Vice-Chancellor.

The tenure of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor, Professor Idowu Olayinka will expire in November this year.

The new Vice-Chancellor is expected to resume duty on December 1st 2020.

Air Tanzania resumed scheduled flights to Harare on Wednesday after a seven-month suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The airline joins a host of other regional and international airlines that have resumed flights into Zimbabwe after the country reopened its skies at in October.

Some of the airlines that have resumed flights into the southern African country include Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenyan Airways, South African Airlink and Fastjet.

‘The flights resume today on Oct. 27, 2020, and will be served initially twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday.’

Boko Haram fighters have killed a pregnant woman and five others in an attack in Damboa, Borno State.

According to the civilian joint task force who confirmed the attack, 22 insurgents were killed while five soldiers died.

The attack which reportedly took place on Sunday left seven others injured.

The fighters stormed the town in seven gun trucks and 12 motorbikes and headed straight for the army base, residents said.

Several Boko Haram fighters were also killed by Nigerian soldiers.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, on Tuesday, sacked one of its officers identified as, Corps Assistant Illiya Ibrahim of the Gwagwalada Division Abuja, for joining the hoodlums in looting Covid-19 palliatives in Gwagwalada.

A statement released on Tuesday by Ekunola Gbenga, Media Assistant to the Commandant General NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, said Ibrahim’s dismissal was approved after a series of investigations and deliberations by the junior disciplinary committee.
