President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Chairman of the Board of the Nigerian Copyright Commission, Dr Clinton Jaja.

His sack which was with immediate effect was conveyed in a letter signed by the Solicitor General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice, Mr Dayo Apata, SAN.

The letter with reference number: SGF/PS/NCC/668 and dated October 15, however did not disclose any reason for his removal from office.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said Monday that fighters involved in recent attacks on civilians in the west of the country were receiving training and shelter in neighbouring Sudan and that Khartoum’s assistance was needed to stabilise the area.

 

Abiy’s government had previously said little about what was driving the violence in the Benishangul-Gumuz region, which opposition politicians have described as ethnically motivated.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday reaffirmed that his administration recognizes the democratic rights of the Nigerian youths to peaceful protests.

Buhari who urged the youths to beware of anarchists who may hijack their gatherings for selfish motives stated this when he received the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, at the State House, Abuja, on Monday.

Briefing the State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, the minister said Buhari has advised the youths to always be on alert so that miscreants would not take advantage of their genuine intention.
