NANS Not Part Of Planned Protest Over Petrol Price – Spokesman

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has dissociated itself from a planned protest over the recent hike in fuel pump price and electricity tariff.

Mr Azeez Adeyemi, the National Public Relations Officer of NANS, said
a so-called NANS southwest Zone D that announced the protest, is not recognised by the NANS leadership.

The group led by Kappo Olawale gave the Federal government a five-day ultimatum to reverse the hike in the prices of fuel and electricity tariff.

Civilians Killed In Mali Explosion

Six civilians have died in an explosion in Mali.

The incident occurred near Boura, Mali’s southern region of Sikasso.

A local security source confirmed the blast to Xinhua on Saturday.

The officer said an ambulance carrying a patient from Boura hit an IED killing six people on board.

On the driver survived but was ‘severely injured and evacuated to Koutiala (south).’

Unknown gunmen, Saturday stormed Banigo Isile-Ogono community in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, shot sporadically and abducted several persons in a gory operation.

Some of the abducted victims are identified as Sunny Hart, Thomas Allison and Theophilus Ibiama, among several others.

Liberian President George Weah has declared rape a national emergency and has ordered new measures to tackle the problem after a recent spike of cases in the poor West African state.
