Oil Prices Fall Amid Bleak Outlook Warnings

Amid bleak outlook warnings by major oil producers and the COVID-19 pandemic, oil prices again went southwards on Tuesday, with experts forecasting prices may crash to $35.

Brent crude was down 4 cents, or 0.1%, at $39.57 a barrel by 0642 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were down 2 cents, or 0.1%, at $37.24 a barrel.

Both contracts ended slightly lower the previous day.

Ogun Woman Docked For ₦2.4m American Visa Fraud

A 50-year-old woman, Folashade Odujole on Monday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’Court in Ogun, western Nigeria, charged with American visa fraud.

Odujole, whose address was not stated in court, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence and fraud.

Insp. E.O. Adaraloye, prosecuting, told the court that Odujole committed the offences sometime in July 2018 at Adalemo area, Sango-Ota.

Adaraloye said that defendant collected ₦2.4 million from the complainant, Micheal Opaleye, to assist him to procure America visa, which she did not carry out.

Fake News, No Explosion At Kainji Dam – Official

The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), on Monday urged Nigerians to disregard ongoing reports of an explosion in Kainji Dam, describing it as ‘fake news’.

NIHSA Director-General, Mr Clement Nze in a statement,  noted that the dam is safe and no explosion whatsoever occurred in the dam.

The dam is located in New Bussa town, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger.

According to him, the Nigeria hydrological services agency works in synergy with operators of all major dams across the country, and have not reported any occurrence.
