Replacing Striking Doctors With Corps Members Absurd – Sani

Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, has reacted to the recent statement by the Minister of Health, directing federal hospitals to replace doctors with corps members.

The Health Minister, lamenting the strike action by resident doctors directed the CMDs and MDs of all federal tertiary hospitals to replace the doctors in their hospitals with consultants and doctors on the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

Ehanire said the strike commenced by the doctors at a time when the country was battling the COVID-19 pandemic was ill-timed.

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation has slammed Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for refusing to greet the Ooni of Ife.

The Police Command in Kaduna State has said that the entrance examination into the 8th Regular Course of Police Academy, Wudil, has been scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17, across the country.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday in Kaduna, NAN reports.

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s main election campaign advisory firm has been targeted by suspected Russian state-backed hackers, Microsoft Corp has revealed.

The Latin American roll-out of a potential COVID-19 vaccine made by AstraZeneca could be set back after the biotech company announced a pause in tests, the government of Mexico, which is involved in developing the drug alongside Argentina, said Tuesday.

Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Hit 55,632, Deaths 1,070

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has confirmed 176 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the nation’s total infections to 55,632.

NCDC announced the figure on its official twitter handle on Wednesday.

It said that 176 new confirmed cases and 3 deaths were recorded in the country on Sept. 9.

The health agency said that till date, 55,632 cases have been confirmed, 43,610, discharged and 1,070 deaths, recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Niger Govt Uncovers Over 2,000 Fake Primary School Teachers

Niger State Government says it has uncovered over two thousand unqualified primary school teachers on its payroll across the 25 local government areas of the state.

The affected teachers, according to the government could neither read nor write in primary schools.

This was the report of the findings of a Staff Audit Committee constituted by the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, in June this year.

The committee set up by the state Chairman, Dr. Isa Adamu, was saddled with the responsibility to unravel and ascertain the exact number of personnel on its payroll.
