A day after her 39th birthday, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, has won a court battle to keep the names of five of her friends private for the time being.

The request was part of her legal action against a British tabloid which she accuses of invading her privacy.

Meghan, wife of Prince Harry, is suing Associated Newspapers over articles in the Mail on Sunday that included parts of a handwritten letter she had sent to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, in August 2018.

Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Frank Okiye, on Wednesday raised the alarm over what he called dubious plans by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and stakeholders of the APC in the state, to import a fake mace with a view to forcefully take over the Assembly.

He alleged that the plans were being perfected in collusion with the impeached Deputy Speaker, Yekini Idiaye.

The Federal High Court, Abuja has fixed Sept. 30 to hear a libel case filed by Global Integrity Crusade Network, (GICN), a Civil Society Organisation against Sahara Reporters and its Publisher, Omoyele Sowore.

The group instituted the suit against Sowore and three others over publications alleged to be libelous against the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN.

FUTA Suspends Final Year Student For Hacking Into Newspaper’s Website

The Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, has slammed an indefinite suspension on a final year student of the institution who hacked into the website of an online news publication, the Premium Times.

According to the institution, the student, Afolabi Emmanuel of the Department of Food Science and Technology was suspended on Wednesday.

In a statement signed by the university’s Deputy Director, Corporate Communications, Adegbenro Adebanjo, the act by the student constituted misconduct and misuse of University IT infrastructure.

Lagos State Government has revoked the 2018 Land Use Charge (LUC). It was implemented by former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

Commissioner for Finance, Rabiu Olowo, made the announcement on Wednesday.

He said the government reverted to pre-2018 land use charges.
