The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo State has arrested a 27-year-old farmer for allegedly killing one  Shuaib Adamu, a herdsman.

The herdsman was said to have allowed his cattle to graze on the suspect’s farm at Elega Village, Ikoyi, in  Ogbomoso area of Oyo State.

The Police in Rivers State have arrested four suspected kidnappers who allegedly tortured 65-year-old man to death, despite collecting ₦1.2 million ransom in Port Harcourt.

The Rivers State Police Command paraded the suspects in connection to the death of Mr. Sokari Braide, kidnapped about two weeks ago but died two days after he was released from the kidnappers den due to torture.

Chile Unemployment Rises By 5.6%, Hits New Record Of 13%

Unemployment in Chile has reached a new record high of 13.1 percent, the national statistics institute said Friday.

Unemployment rose by 5.6 percentage points in the rolling May-July quarter compared to the same period in 2019.

The statistics institute said it was the highest figure since 2010 when the body changed its calculation method.

That means that more than a million people are out of work, leaving 8.1 million employed after the loss of 1.8 million jobs over the last year.

At least five people died on Saturday when a restaurant in northern China collapsed, state media said, with rescuers pulling dozens of survivors from the rubble and searching for others believed to be trapped.

The two-storey building used for banquets came down in the morning in Xiangfen county, in Shanxi province, according to broadcaster CGTN.

Two South African police officers have been arrested for murder following the gunning down earlier this week of a disabled teenager in a Johannesburg suburb, a police watchdog has said.

Yola Hospital Separates Twins Joined At Birth

Specialist doctors at the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, have separated two children who were born joined around the abdomen as Siamese twins.

The twins who are both girls and now aged eight months, were born at the Nembe General Hospital in Bayelsa State on December 12, 2019 and were immediately referred to the FMC Yenagoa where they were, in turn, referred to the FMC Yola.

The twins had been flown by the Nigeria Air Force to Yola in January this year but the surgery to remove them was not done till earlier this month.

A Bell 206-B3 helicopter with registration number 5N-BQW, which crashed on Salvation Road, Opebi, Lagos State, on Friday, was declared non-airworthy three years ago.

The helicopter crashed with three persons onboard.

While two crew members died on the spot, the third person earlier rescued and taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, later died.

Documents showed that the crashed helicopter was declared non-airworthy in 2017 by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
